NU will hold international conference

The Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) will soon hold an international conference by inviting ulema and figures from Muslim minority countries. The forum will discuss issues facing Muslims living in non-Muslim majority countries.
Chairman of PBNU Masykuri Abdillah said that the Nahdliyin-based organization had prepared a concept in regard with the purposeful conference.<>
"We have had a concept so that if we then invite ulema from other countries we have had the concept," Masykuri said.
While speaking on the sidelines of a national workshop at the Jakarta's Sofyan Hotel Wednesday (18/2), Masykuri said that the results of the much-awaited forum would be used as such guidelines of Muslims living in non-Muslim majority countries.
Masykuri who is also deputy secretary general of the NU-sponsored International Conference of Islamic Scholars (ICIS) said that PBNU would involve the Department of Foreign Affairs and other parties to succeed the conference.
Meanwhile director general of the Information and Public Diplomacy of the Department of Foreign Affairs Andri Hadi said that he greatly appreciated and would be ready to facilitate the PBNU initiative.
Parni Hadi said he would cooperate with such organizations as NU and MUhammadiyah and other parties to hold any international interfaith forum. (rif)
