As a religious social organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has been one of key elements capable of helping deal with various problems facing the nation. At this point, NU should sharpen its strategic agenda having not yet been completed so far.
The statement was made by the Axis of NU Youth (PMNU) in its press release sent to the PBNU news portal NU Online here on Saturday.<>
The PMNU said that one of the important things that should soon be addressed by the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization was the importance of immediately formulating rules related to executive chairmen in all levels.
All this, it added, was aimed at anticipating any possible tendency of all NU board members in all levels especially its chairmen to involve NU in the arena of politics.
"We consider that autonomous bodies, institutions and committees should also be taken into account of their 'rule of game' so that the lead position of leaders cannot easily be filled by those are from political parties, members of Parliament and top level officials," the coordinator of PMNU Shofiyul Arif Shubhi said.
In addition, the NU youth power expected NU to be more professional in dealing with fund raising from such charity activities as infaq and sedekah which lead in turn to functional purposes.
Arif said that NU middle class should take part in at least financing any program of organization development, adding that sincerity, kindness and responsibility were such 'prerequesities' for those willing to do their best and contribute to NU. (min)
