The country’s largest Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and the United Kingdom (UK) would develop pesantren-based education management. At least for several years ago both sides have cooperated in giving opportunity for NU cadres to study education management at Leeds University.
Due to the friendly and brotherly relationship between NU and the UK, both signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the NU office on Monday (18/12). General Chairman of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Hasyim Muzadi and Indonesia’s British Ambassador Charles Humfrey lauded one another dealt with the reached prospective cooperation.
Hasyim said that the program was aimed at developing pesantren circles in terms of school education management, school leadership and so on. “Next we would give such training to the pesantren (circles) dealing with administration and school management.”
At the same time Rozy explained all of the participants were the representatives of NU institutions and Islamic boarding schools across the country. They were elected names through final selection conducted by both the PBNU and Indonesian British Council.
The religious and social organization would reportedly send its 26 cadres to the United Kingdom at the mid of February next year to follow an education management training for Islamic boarding schools for a month. (rif)
