People told not to forget pesantren

"As santri or alumni of pesantren (Islamic boarding school), please never forget the life of pesantren instead of leaving them," said KH Nuridin as addressing a halal bi halal meeting in Sigambir village, Brebes regency on Monday (6/10).

On the sidelines of the meeting held by the Association of Santri and Alumni of Salafiyah Barat (Iksaba), Nuridin said that as the successors of ulema (clerics), santri should be able to practice pesantren's life styles and not be trapped into such lifestyles outside the pesantren co<>des.

He was of view that those involving themselves in the lifestyles would meet unexpectedly fatal consequences. That's why, santri must defend especially religious creed and morality (akhlaq).

In the meantime the organizing Committee chief Rizal said the Iksaba had so far held three similar meetings, adding the meetings were aimed at strengthening communication between santri and alumni.

The Iksaba was a santri and alumni association of Salafiyah Islamic boarding school, Pemalang, Central Java. The meeting itself was participated by santri and alumni of the pesantren from the period 1990 to 2008.

"Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah), we have still kept in touch," he said, adding that the Iksaba was also participated by santri and alumni from Brebes, Tegal, and Slawi.

Present on the occasion were leader and some teachers of the pesantren like Nyai Fatimah Syban Zuhdi, KH Romdhon SZ, Ust H Aenurrofiq, Ust Fatkhurrohman Maud, Ust Miftah, and so on. (was)
