The National Awakening Party (PKB) said that it disagreed with the government's plan to raise fuel oil prices following the rocketing price of world's oil.
"The PKB rejects the rise of fuel oil prices. Do not burden the people more and more," General Secretary of the PKB, Yenny Wahid said while addressing the opening of the Party's extraordinary congress in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (30/1).<>
Yenny was of view that there had still been many ways in avoiding high fuel oil prices. She added, the cutback of the budget leakage amounting to approximately 30 percent would be one of brilliant solutions.
The leakage of budget amounting to 30 percent from Rp 750 billion has of course remained very high," she said.
Indonesia, she said, should take an example from Argentine in organizing its debt burden in 2002 when economic crisis hit the country.
She explained the total available budget that is used to pay off its foreign debts had remained very high. Whereas, the budget, she said, could also be allocated to to help people. (mkf)
