The Indonesian government says the police and intelligence agency are currently investigating the existence of radical group Indonesian Islamic State (NII).
“We will investigate it to the end,” Djoko Suyanto, coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, said at the presidential palace on Thursday (21/4).<<>br />
It has been alleged that NII is active in several Indonesian regions — particularly after Mahatir Rizki, a student from Malang went missing for a month.
Rizki was reported missing by relatives, who later suspected he had been brainwashed by members of the NII.
Another alleged victim of NII is Laila Febriani, the 26-year-old Transportation Ministry employee who suffered amnesia after missing for one day.
It is also reported that ten students of Muhammadiyah University in Malang have been deceived by NII. They were allegedly indoctrinated by the radical group and were obliged to hand over large sums of money for their membership. (jg/dar)
