PPP sure its cadres in cabinet to survive reshuffle

The United Development Party (PPP) is convinced its two cadres in the cabinet will not be replaced in an eventual reshuffle by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

PPP Secretary General Irghan Chaerul Mahfiz said here on Friday reshuffling the cabinet was the President`s prerogative his ministers and PPP would appreciate.<>

PPP`s cadres in the United Indonesia Cabinet are Suryadharma Ali as religious minister and Suharso Monoarfa as public housing minister.

"PPP is of the view that it is normal for the president to evaluate his ministers` performance, but weather or not the result of the evaluation would lead him to reshuffle his cabinet is up to his as the president had the prerogative right," Irghan Chaerul Mahfiz said.

However, if the president carried out the reshuffle, Irghan was convinced the PPP cadres in the cabinet would not be replaced.

He said that PPP cadres had shown their good performance. The religious affairs minister has performed better, hajj pilgrimage programs have run well and hajj pilgrimage costs have been reduced.

Public Housing Minister Suharso Monoarfa also performed well as indicated in the development of modest houses for the people with easy housing credits (KPR).

He said that President Yudhoyono`s request to his ministers to further improve their performance was a whip for his aides to work harder. The president made the request when he addressed one year of his government recently.

Irghan is aware of the fact that there were still parties who were not satisfied with the result of Yudhoyono`s one year government.

He said that admittedly the government still had shortcomings but it has also made many achievements. (ant/dar)
