Indonesia’s education minister has urged all teachers to engage their students in discussion to combat the rise in radicalism in schools and campuses.
“They should engage the students in academic and intellectual discussions about what the form of our country is,” Muhammad Nuh said. “Radicalism is a strong thought and it should be confronted with academic thoughts.”r />
Nuh the ministry was currently in the process of reviewing school curriculum to help combat radicalism, which a number of analysts believe is growing in Indonesia.
“We are still reviewing the curriculum now and we are going to make the students love their country even more than before,” he said. “We need to teach them more about tolerance, giving, sharing, and the most important thing is to know more about their country.” (dar)
