Surabaya's IAIN to facilitate open debate over book controversy

The dispute over the publication of the book entitled "Ex-Cleric of NU Calls Shalawat and Dzikir Syirik" has increasingly made public upset, especially Nahdliyin (NU Followers).
Dealing with the deviant written "babble", the Surabaya's Sunan Ampel High Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) would hold a scholarly meeting on coming 12 April.<>
Director of the IAIN Postgraduate Program Prof. Dr. Ahmad Zahro made the statement on Saturday (23/2). "The principle, we have already held the meeting,"
The meeting, he said, was expected to be such an open debate by summoning H Mahrus Ali (author of the book) and KH Muammal Hamidy giving introduction for the book).
The meeting would also invite a team both representing the Jember's Nahdlatul ULama (NU) and writing a work to unveil the lies as written in the controversial book.
Zahro said the purposeful meeting was expected to be such an academic one and medium to keep cultivating relationship for both sides. (sbh)
