Syaiful Bahri ready to improve workers' welfare

Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Workers Union (Sarbumusi) Syaiful Bahri Ansori will focus his all work programs for the period 2010-2015 on how to improve workers grouped under the NU autonomy body in particular and Indonesian workers in general.
"Solidarity among board members must be strengthened, Sarbumusi is not a political party, but (is designed) to the welfare of workers," said Syaiful before participants of the Sarbumusi congress here on Tuesday (3/8).
To meet the goal, he said, there would be many things that should soon be done like enhancing a good coordination among board members of Sarbumusi ranging from grassroot to central levels.
"Sarbumusi will constantly struggle for justice in the context of rahmatan lil alamin (blessings for the universe), all workers must be struggled for, not only NU workers," Syaiful said, adding that there should be collaborations between worker unions and the government to expectedly have shared interests in dealing with programs of improving and empowering workers.
"It is not difficult to develop Sarbumusi, there are many programs which can be carried out," former deputy secretary of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) said. (mkf)
