Taiwan's NU to salute PBNU for internationalizing NU

The Nahdlatul Ulama Special Branch Board (PCINU) of Taiwan has expressed its pride to the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) for considerably being capable of internationalizing NU and introducing the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) to the world.

The PCINU specially expressed its salutation to general chairman of PBNU KH Hasyim Muzadi for bringing the country's largest Muslim organization to the international world and was considered the Indonesia's most influencial Muslim figure in the 500 Most Influential Muslims--2009, a book that lists and provides short biographies of outsatnding Muslims from the fields of politics, religion, women, the media and radicalism.

"I think, all Nahdliyin (NU followers) should be proud for having a leader like KH Hasyim Muzadi. He has been able to bring NU to the international level and introduce the Aswaja teachings to the world," member of the Supreme Council of the PCINU Nabiel Haroen said here Thursday.

Nabil argued that "Kiai Hasyim has successfully established special branch boards in several countries", including Taiwan in which he inaugurated the first PCINU ladership in 2008.

Nabil was of the view that Hasyim was a sincere man for devoting all his life to the 40-million member Muslim organization, saying that Hasyim had big  contribution to spreading it.

In addition, Nabil said that Hasyim had successfully enlightened and made Nahdliyin prosperous and been capable of creating the climate of regeneration.

He said that Hasyim was a man having "broad understanding, deep religious knowledge and the capability of lobbying and good management".

In terms of Hasyim's candidacy as Rais Aam, Nabil diplomatically said that "I have long time recognized him. As long as I know, Kiai Hasyim is sincere enough to position himself. He is not an ambitious man." (mkh)
