Livestock is a strategic sector to improve the economy, but it must be done properly. The statement was raised at the so-called Obrolan Bareng Ansor organized by the Gayam chapter of Ansor, Bojonegoro, East Java, recently.

Present as a guest speaker in the event was Muhammad Ja'i who is also a livestock expert and director of Bimantari Foundation.

He said that making youth understand about livestock was a matter of changing a mindset that could not be done for granted for it is considered a sector not promising great results.

"Many of our communities have not understood how to effectively raise their livestock so they often fail to breed, until they conclude that breeding is not prospective," he said in a dialogue held at Mushala Maslakul Huda, Beged.

In fact, he continued, livestock should be understood in its all processes, including in understanding the nutrition of feed and the effectiveness of its cost.

"If we understand how to give the animal feed is considerably enough by looking for grass once and making into a feed that could be used for over a month, with the right ways and strategies," he added.

He hoped, Ansor Gayam cadres could become part of the elements being able to change the understanding of society about livestock. "Such forum is incredible to develop our knowledge correctly," he concluded.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of the event, Mustofa Amin, said that this activity could be such a container of additional knowledge of cadres in order to be able to apply their knowledge.

"Hopefully in the future there will be more people having broad insights (about it)," said the man who is also a teacher at one of the senior Islamic senior high schools in Bojonegoro. (Mahbib/masdar)
