UNUSDA officially launched

Deputy Governor of East Java Saifulah Yusuf officially launched the Nahdlatul Ulama University of Sidoarjo (UNUSDA) at the university's local campus on Monday.<>

"Hopefully, following the launch, UNUSDA will be able to both advance and improve the quality of education in East Java and become the best, prestigious, and quality university" he said here on Monday.

Formerly on August 1st, Education Minister Mohammad Nuh issued the Decree (SK) in terms of operations for the university that is located at Jln. Monginsidi, Sidoarjo. The decree was submitted to the Chairman of Lawmaking Body of the Sidoarjo's Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board KH Rofik Siradj at Delta Wibawa Hall  Sidoarjo.

The ceremony of submitting the SK was attended by Director General of the Education and Culture Ministry Prof. Ir Yazidie, Deputy Governor Saifullah Yusuf, Regect of Sidoarjo Syaiful Illah, Deputy Regent Hadi Sucipto, and scores of the Sidoarjo's PCNU officials.

"To be a quality college and be accepted by society is not easy, because this newly-established institution should have its own characteristic if compared to other colleges in order to compete well," said the Deputy Governor of East Java in the inauguration.

According to him, there are three conditions for the UNUSDA to posision itself as an outstanding, prestigious and quality  campus. Firstly, it must have a good leader who could carry out the mandate and have a responsibility to promote the university.

"Its leaders should not be lazy because if the leaders are lazy, then their poor managerial leadership will have an impact on the performance of its lecturers and students," he said.

Secondly, the campus must have a good infrastructure. "It means, its infrastructure should be supported by representative building and facilities, so that students can learn and pursue their ecucation optimally," he said.

Thirdly, the UNUSDA must have qualified lecturers and there have now been many human resources of Nahdlatul Ulama who have the competence and expertise to share their knowledge with students.

"Its lecturers should be qualified, do not choose the ones who are lazy and not credible. All this is done solely for the advancement of the university," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Sidoarjo Saiful Ilah expected the UNUSDA to be capable of improving education and the competitiveness of young people to pursue higher education.
