The Indonesian government is ready to reconcile Islamic countries currently involved in conflicts among themselves, Vice President Jusuf Kalla said here on Tuesday.
"Indonesia will always be ready to become a part of peacemaking efforts through the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) summit," he said.
The Indonesian vice president will depart for Turkey on Wednesday to attend the 13th Summit of the OIC in Istanbul, the capital city of Turkey.
He said Indonesia would come as a peacemaker to the conference. "It is about how to make countries involved in conflicts to reconcile with each other. That is our mission," he said.
Kalla explained that one of the causes of conflicts in the Middle East was invasion by big countries, including Western countries.
"I read today that (US President Barrack) Obama offered an apology with regard to US attacks on Libya," he said.
Jusuf Kalla earlier met Saudi Arabias ambassador to Indonesia, Mustafa bin Ibrahim Al Mubarak. "We discussed economic relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia," he said. (Masdar)
