NU: Islam is the most authentic religion

General Chairperson of the country's Muslim organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH Said Aqil Siroj, said that humans were the holders of a double mandate assigned by Allah SWT, so-called ilahiyyah (divine) and ardliyah. First, the divine mandate includes the main teachings of religion, such as aqidah, sharia and morals. He viewed Islam was the most authentic religion which makes it easy to understand.

 

“The Islamic faith from 15 centuries ago until now has still been genuine, original. It has not changed nor has it increased," Kiai said made the remarks at the Egyptian PCINU Inauguration which was held virtually, Wednesday (4/8).

 

The sharia mandate contains the points in the pillars of Islam. All implementations are still the same following the teachings brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This means that Islam has more advantages compared to other religions.

 

He added such advantages were not without intending to offend or marginalize the teachings of other religions. Because, based on the results of his research, it is true that the authenticity of Islam is well preserved. Even so far, there have been no significant changes or reductions to any serious principles.

 

"If we are asked about prayer, fasting, hajj, umrah and others. So we believe All this is as practiced by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," the alumnus of Umm Al-Quro, Makkah, Saudi Arabia said.

 

Second, the leader of the Luhur Al-Tsaqafah Islamic Boarding School in Ciganjur continued, was the so-called Ardliyah's mandate. This mandate is realistic and not sacred, requiring humans to think creatively by upholding humanity. "What we call as tsaqafah and hadarah," he explained.

 

He explained, tsaqafah was things that refer to the fields of science, culture, and humanity. While the hadarah (progress) was related to the economy, when the two went hand in hand, it was called tamadun (civilization).

 

"This is what we are required to realize, namely the mandate to build Tsaqafah Islamiyah, Hadarah Islamiyah, and Tamadun Islamiyah. That has not been completed until now," said Kiai Siroj who was named was one of the Most Influential Muslim Figures by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center Amman.

 

While, the inauguration was held at the PCINU Secretariat of Egypt, Darrasah, Cairo, Egypt, which was attended by the Rais Aam of NU KH Miftachul Akhyar. Also present were the NU Secretary General Helmy Faisal Zaini, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador (LBBP) Lutfi Rauf.
