The event of commemorating the death (haul) of KH Zubair Dahlan, the KH Maimoen Zubair's father ignited public controversy following a demand for the taking down of all banners of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) by the Rembang Police, Central Java, Friday (9/6).

Reportedly, the Rembang Police only hoped the Haul situation is conducive by not bringing the FPI's banners.
The Rembang Police Chief AKBP Sugiarto then explained politely to the FPI members and provided koko shirts as substitutes for the FPI clothes.

Related to the incident misunderstood by the FPI and viral in social media, the Al-Anwar Islamic baording school (pesantren) Sarang Rembang through the so-called khodim (personal assistant) of Mbah Maimoen Zubair, Muhammad Wahyudi explained about the haul commemoration.

The series of events held in Maqbaroh (grave complex) simpek were led by KH Muhammad Alim, then followed with the recitation of Sura Yasin by KH Ahmad Ainul Yaqin Tuban and tahlil by Habib Abu Bakar Assegaf, and closed with a prayer by KH Maimoen Zubair.

"After reciting tahlil in maqbaroh, thousands of pilgrims simultaneously participated in breaking their fast together in the house of KH Maimoen Zubair," Muhammad Wahyudi said.

Wahyudi added those expected to come in the haul event held in mid-month of Ramadan were santri and alumni of Pesantren Sarang, especially Pesantren Al-Anwar. And Mbah Maimoen did not invite others from any elements and mass organizations.

Mbah Maimoen knew nothing about the presence of FPI, Banser members, and other mass organizations at the haul commemoration Mbah Zubair event.

"To avoid possible unexpected things, Mbah Maimoen asked FPI members not to use their attributes and still follow the pilgrimage in maqbaroh by wearing clothes like other guests," Wahyudi said.

According to Wahyudi, it not true that the Mbah Maimoen Zubair's family is related to the FPI. The news circulating in social media about his support is their claim. The Mbah Maimoen's manhaj (lines of thought) is importantly upholding the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) with its four main pillars.

"This is something that is worth and must be maintained and could become a lesson for us as Muslims," he asserted.

Wahyudi emphasized that upholding the homeland was a must for Muslims, especially in materializing the so-called Baldatun Thoyyibatun Warobbun Ghofur.

"As what is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that all is for all, rahmatan lil 'alamin (a blessing for the universe)," he noted. (Ahmad Asmui / Masdar)
