The Pagar Nusa martial arts of Tasikmalaya, West Java, is ready to disperse an Islamic and civilization conference that will be held by Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) at the Asia Plaza, Tasikmalaya, on Sunday June 1, 2014. The conference will be attended by members of HTI troughout East Priangan.<>
"If the authorities, like Tasikmalaya City government, police and military personnel are not able to disperse the HTI conference, then we Pagar Nusa martial arts of Tasikmalaya are ready to dissolve the event with all the risks," said Yoga Arif Maulana recently.
Yoga said he would disperse the HTI event because it could threaten the integrity of the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). By letting the event take place, he said, "means that we let them undermine the integrity of the nation."
"Yes definitely, they were committed treason against NKRI and the nation's integrity. HTI wants to change the foundation of our country for not acknowledging Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution," he said.
HTI is committed to the re-establishment of the Islamic caliphate (al-khilafat al-Islamiyyah). It also argues that the notion of democracy is absolutely human-made and it is notan authentically Islamic concept. In addition, HTI also declares its opposition to the idea of nationalism. It is not simply because the notion contradicts Islamic norms.
