'Pagar Nusa is the core strength of NU'

Deputy Secretary General of NU Abdul Mun'im DZ called on Ulama Nahdlatul martial art Pagar Nusa to always be at the frontline in order to be a core strength of the country's largest Muslim organization.<>

Mun'im made the remarks at the second day the National Training-for-Trainers meeting of Pagar Nusa that was held in the Youth Centre Building, Tlogoadi, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (4/3).

According to him, Pagar Nusa could be a means to vibrate the opponent. Therefore, he hoped that the NU martial art group could always maintain compactness. 

"The important thing is compactness, there should not involve in a war, in addition to the prayer of course. We also should not feel inferior, because we have a great power," he added.

Although NU was sometimes underestimated, he added, it was still appreciated and needed. The latest evidence was the arrival of President Jordan some time ago to the NU headquarters instead of the government.

Then he warned that all NU autonomous bodies, including Pagar Nusa, should not be split and must be united. In the future, he hoped that all should be in one step in order that the NU strength could increasingly be greater.

In addition, Mun'im also called on Pagar Nusa members to always defend and maintain the Homeland from any threat posed by other parties.

"It is an obligation to defend the Homeland, as Mbah Hasyim (Asy'ari) said. So all must do jihad. Jihad in the sense fortifying ourselves, moreover Pagar Nusar has become the core strength of NU," he said.

On the occasion, Mun'im also called on all Pagar Nusa warriors to always become such a driving force (harakah) and strength.

"In coming twelve years we hope NU should not be dead, but it should be bigger. NU is born not for the inattentiveness, carelessness, but to continue the (NU founding fathers) struggle," he said.

The training is conducted by the Central Board Pagar Nusa, and will last until March 9, 2014, in Youth Centre Building, Tlogoadi, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
