Gus Mus calls on NU young cadres to live simply

The supreme leader of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) KH A Mustafa Bisri, popularly known as Gus Mus, called on NU young cadres to be pioneers in living simply because it is able to overcome some of the problems faced by Indonesia like rampant corruption.<>
"I've currently challenged the newly elected (chairman of Ansor Youth Movement) Mr. Nusron in Surabaya to spearhead a simple living movement. At that time, he answered OK. Ansor should be, because if it is not applied, the condition of Indonesia will continue as it is today," he said at the inauguration of GP Ansor of Central Java at Pesantren Raudlatut Thalibin, leteh, Rembang.
Gus Mus asserted that wealthy and powerful lifestyle is an example of the New Order era.
"In the New Order era, the most rich and powerful was Suharto. For 32 years he was in power, he could be an example of being rich for so long," he said.
Then after the Reform era, continued Gus Mus, there have been many new like-Suharto individuals," saying that almost everyone wanted to be rich and powerful like Suharto.
In addition, Gus Mus also called for the importance of NU cadres to play important roles especially in addressing any emerging problem faced by the Indoensian people.
According to Gus Mus, a simple lifestyle is able to answer a number of problems facing the nation, especially corruption in the country.
