Gus Mus: NU committees must be careful giving political statements

Adviser of the central board of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Ahmad Mustofa Bisri who is familiarly called as Gus Mus reminds NU leaders to be careful when giving statements, especially related to practical politics.
The statemen from Gus Mus was make sense considering since 1984, NU has declared back to the Khittah 1926, focusing as islamic mass organization (diniyah-ijtimaiyah) that not involved in practical politics, but high level politics or national politics.
“And (NU committees) better if not talking related to practical politics at NU’s office. It is not the place,” He asked in his twitter account, Thursday (8/9), morning.
Until 06.00 am, the statement has been retweeted at least 1239 accounts. John in his account, @johnnie_muhan agrees with Gus Musopinion. “I agree Gus, don’t use NU to the political interest of individuals,” He replied.
In his tweet, alumnus of Pesantren Krapyak, Yogyakarta and Al-Azhar Universitas, Kairo, Egypt attached a clarification from one of vice chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama Robikin Emhas about inaccurate news in an online news site that NU has threaten President Jokowi.
Previously, The general chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Said Aqil Siroj had also affirmedthat NU position was not involved in giving support president and vice president candidates in 2019 general election. That role was domain of political parties. “NU just gives blessing, istighotsah or praying together,” He Said.
Vice secretary general of Nahdlatul Ulama Masduki Baidlawi admited, as the greatest islamic mass organization with the largest followers, a lot of parties scramble to get sympathy and support from NU. Therefore, the spirit of Khittah must be strengthened. It is important in order NU not to fall into practice of practical politics.
