Jakarta, NU Online
Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi, as the governor is affectionately called) visited the NU headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/1). He was warmly welcomed by General Chairman of NU, KH Said Aqil Siroj (Kang Said) and some NU officials.<>
Jokowi explained, his visit to the country's largest Muslim organization was to cultivate and strengthen relationship with ulema (Muslim scholars).
In the meeting, the two mostly used Javanese language. As we know both Jokowi and Kang Said are from Java so that both could speak Javanese fluently.
One of the points discussed in their meeting was the NU's plan to hold a national meeting which will be held on May 2014 in Jakarta.
Before leaving from the NU headquarters, Jokowi took a look at the 1st floor where the Wahid Corner is located.
