Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi roji'un. The leader of Kediri's Lirboyo Islamic boarding school (pesantren) KH Idris Marzuki passed away at Graha Amarta Hospital Surabaya at 09.45 local time on Monday.<>
The man popularly known as Mbah Idris was also the supreme council of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization.
Mbah Idris was a remarkable for devoting his life to the struggle for social justice, peace and religious harmony which he passionately believed to be core Islamic values.
But perhaps his greatest contribution was his role in transforming Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the traditionally conservative Muslim organization.
May Allah SWT accept his actions and forgive his sins and bring him into Paradise, amiin. Allahummaghfirlahu warhamhu wa'afihi wa'fu 'anhu.
