Chief of supreme council of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Ma’ruf Amin offered his economic concept what he called as “New wave of Indonesian Economic” in order to reduce economic inequality among indonesian people.
“Earlier, as noted by general chairman (Kiai Said) ‘Our economic was not yet stable. So I have proposed new wave economic of Indonesia (to stabilize economic),” talked Kiai Ma’ruf before provincial leaders of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) throughout Indonesia in Aryaduta hotel, Jakarta on Thursday (8/30).
Kiai Ma’ruf contended, the old economic system that using ‘trickle down effect’ theory, just resulted conglomerates, but could not increase economic capacity of the lower society.
The trickle down effect was economic activities where big groups was expected to give effects to economic activities in the micro level. But, the fact was, the theory did not work properly. Even, what happened was trickle up effect or an upward effect.
“Therefore, the development must be started from below. Namely, ummah economic empowerment, and most of them were NU’s followers,” said Kiai Ma’ruf who is professor of Muamalah Syariah in Malang Islamic State University.
President Joko Widodo himself, said Kiai Ma’ruf, has offered two programs. First, asset redistribution, namely land sharing. There were 12.7 millions hectare of land that will be distributed to cooperative and Islamic boarding schools.
Second, partnership. According to Kiai Ma’ruf, partnership program was not threaten big businesses because the program built cooperation between conglomerates and small entrepreneurs.
“We do partnership and collaboration between small and big entrepreneurs through cooperatives. This is what we want to be continued. So this is part of what we contribute to nation and state,” he explained. (Husni Sahal/Ahmad Rozali)
