Minister of Youth and Sport expected judo federation to make breakthrough headscarf regulation

Minister of Youth and Sport Imam Nahrawi admitted his proud and grateful with Miftahul Jannah, judo athlete, who refused to remove her headscarf during blind judo match in Asian Para Games 2018 because of his principles. According to him, his conviction must be appreciated all parties. 

As known, because of her decision, Miftahul Jannah had to disqualified at blind judo match in Asian Para Games 2018 at JIEXPO Jakarta, on Monday (10/8). This was, said Imam, related to the regulation of International Judo Federation that prohibit the using of headscarf.

Imam considered, both the regulation and the principles which held by Miftahul Jannah must run well. Asian Para Games 2018, he said, must appreciate and respect principles, both athletes principles and regulations.
 
“We appreciated Miftahul Jannah decision and of course it was being a spirit for others, especially Judo Federation to make a breakthrough in order the handcraft could be modified and used by our Judoka, said Imam at press conference at GBK stadium, Jakarta o Tuesday (10/9).

He also encouraged the regulation must be safe and comfortable to athletes. 

A similar aspiration voiced by general chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Said Aqil Siroj. He hoped clothes innovation to women judo athletes which was adaptive to Muslimah as well as guarantee safety. (Red: Mahbib)
