Nahdlatul Ulama launched ‘Rumah Pangan Santri’ app

The central board of Nahdlatul Ulama and Bulog (the National Logistic Agency) committed to strengthen national food security by launching Rumah Pangan Santri app (Santri Food House). 

The app has two objectives at once; at the national context, was purposed to deepen participation on the food availability as well as to develop independence of pesantren economic. The existence of pesantren in several regions are part of people business sector which could be utilize to national interest, particularly food security. 

The cooperation was validated on a memorandum of understanding between General Chairman of NU KH Said Aqil Siroj and Director of Bulog Budi Waseso in Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/3).

In his remark on the meeting, Kiai Said explained, Rumah Pangan Santri actually an idea of Kiai Ma’ruf Amin when he was serving as the chief of supreme council (rais aam). The program not only provided good quality of food needs with affordable prices but also to access capital and funding through national banking and therefore involved three banks, namely Bank Syariah Mandiri, Bank BRI Syariah, and Bank BNI Syariah. 

“Easy and fast capital access aimed to encourage partner of pesantren to develop their business scala in order to be center of ummah economic in their regions,” he said. 

The launching of the app accompanied by handover of simbolic assistance in the form of rice, sugar, wheat, and cooking oil from Bulog to Nahdlatul Ulama. Each one is 10 tons.
