NU teams builds emergency mosque in quake-affected area

Since the earthquake hit Lombok, people usually carrying out religious activities in mosques and prayer rooms have found problems. Many mosques have been damaged. People are still anxious if aftershocks occur.
To overcome such problems, the NU Team initiated the establishment of an emergency mosque, one of which was in the refugee camp in Pondok Buak, Lingsar, West Lombok. The 5 x 12 meters emergency mosque was recently built by Bagana Kendal and the regional borad of NU Kudus Central Java by involving the local community.
The mosque will be projected in addition to being Friday prayers place, religious gatherings of mothers and children could also be a place for community discussion. This emergency mosque is made by utilizing tarpaulins and bamboos for poles and supports.
Tarpaulins are donations from NU Kudus Central Java, while bamboos are from local residents. Uniquely, bamboos and the land where the mosque is built as well as the land to set up evacuation tents are in the land owned by Hindu family. The mosques was helped by muslims and Hindus.
Ustadz Abdul Mubin, a local figure said the existence of this emergency mosque would greatly help Muslims in Pondok Buak and its surroundings. "There are about thirty children usually attending the religious gathering, including the ones of mothers and Friday prayers," he said.
M Wahib representing NU Peduli Lombok emphasized that children education was very important, so NU Peduli sought to fulfill the needs, one of which is by providing emergency mosques that they can use.
The mosque establishment lasted until the end of the evening so that it could be used by local residents to perform Maghrib prayer.
