NU university to soon be established in West Kalimantan

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the country's largest Muslim organization, will build a  university in Kubu Raya district, West Kalimantan, which will be the first public university in the region.<>

"Not much longer, Kubu Raya district which is the youngest district in West Kalimantan will have NU University. It will be the only NU university in West Kalimantan which will soon be built by the provincial government of West Kalimantan," Chairman of NU West Kalimantan Zeet Hamdy Assovie said here recently.

He said that NU had long prepared everything to materialize the much-awaited NU university, including its construction administration.

"It's been three years all administration in terms of approval and the preparation of the teaching staff have been prepared following the plan of building the NU University. Now we have just waited for the approval of land for the contruction of university in Kubu Raya district," he said.

According to M Zeet, the NU University is not a religious-based university, but is general and open.

"Besides open to all levels of society, the NU University has a very universal and  real to deal with more advanced era (of education)," he said, adding that NU also had prepared lecturers at the university of dedicated personnel.

"All of the faculties we will provide have (their own) lecturers who are experts in their field. Soon the university is established, the teaching and learning activities can begin immediately," he said.

The university will have four faculties and some 16 courses.
