Approaching a century, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has continued to strive to strengthen its organization (jam'iyah) and build community welfare, especially in the health sector. Improving NU Hospital services is the first step in realizing the welfare.
NU has challenges, especially the availability of human resources in the health sector, medical devices that require large capital and health welfare which is not only profit-oriented.
Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Hospital Association (ARSINU), dr. HM Zulfikar As'ad, said that a hospital could not stand alone for having to follow the ministry's policies, such asthe initial process, evaluation, building cooperation with BPJS, including the facilities that must be met.
“So far, many have offered land to the RSNU Association. But, that's not enough. Because, in our point of view, the problem is not only the hospital building, but also technology and human resources," he said while speaking at an event titled Hospital Services ahead of NU's 2nd Century, Saturday (9/10/2021) on Channel TV9.
Therefore, the role of NU in serving the community must be carefully considered. For example, in building a hospital, it is necessary to prepare everything to expectedly gain the trust of the community.
Dr. As'ad explained that public health had actually been a discussion since the beginning of NU's establishment. In fact, in the so-called AD/ART it is stated that NU is a social organization that manages the religious, social, and health domains.
“The NU congress in Solo in 2010 also emphasized the importance of health services for the people, so that NU administrators target each region to have one hospital. Currently, every city/district has a NU hospital,” the man born in Jombang, East Java, said.
According to him, all the targets could not be met because the hospital is a physical building, not just land.
On the same occasion, the Head of the East Java Health Service, Dr. Erwin Ashta Triyono, appreciated the quality of RSNU in terms of leadership. However, he reminded the RSNU Association to update knowledge about hospitals.
