There has now been a trend in society to adopt spirit dolls. Not only ordinary people, public figures also have spirit dolls that resemble a baby being cared for like a child. This phenomenon is a matter of concern because it has degraded the values of human dignity.

Secretary of the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) M. Fuad Nasar said that the spirit dolls were contrary to the value of monotheism and could reduce human values.

Believing that there is an element of supernatural power in man-made objects or natural objects, according to him, is the same as degrading the values of human dignity, and is contrary to the value of monotheism as the principle of faith in God Almighty.

"Humans were created as the highest and noblest creatures among all of His creations," he stressed.

Fuad was of the opinion that in a religious moderation, everything that degrades the dignity, status, and dignity of humanity as intelligent beings must be prevented. According to Fuad, any object, including spirit dolls, are not worthy of being believed to bring good luck or vice versa.

If it's just a hobby of collecting dolls as works of art and toys, then according to him it's okay, but it can't be more than that. If believing in the existence of supernatural elements in the spirit doll, it could lead to shirk (polytheism).

"Humans having reason and knowledge should not fall into behavior that leads to shirk, namely associating other deities with Allah," he was quoted by the Ministry of Religion website as saying on, Wednesday (5/1/2022)

In the Qur'an, he continued, it was emphasized that humans should only fear and hope in Allah, not in His fellow creatures, let alone things made by human hands.

“Humans cannot create spirits or souls, and cannot give or transfer them to inanimate objects that are made. The spirit is entirely by command of God and modern science cannot envisage it," he explained.

In the universe there is only Allah SWT, nature, and humans. Regarding the relationship between the three, according to Islamic teachings, nature cannot exert a supernatural influence on human life. Nature is subject to humans as the vicegerent of Allah on earth, while humans and nature are subject unto Allah SWT.
