General Chairman of Advisory Board of the People awakening Party (PKB) KH Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid agreed with Kwik Kian Gie’s point of view to hold such a seminar discussing Porong’s hot mudflow from PT Lapindo Brantas Inc.
The seminar will reportedly invite experts of geology and natural preservasion, bureaucrats, businessmen, professionals (including respected layers) and local residents (victims).
<>Gus Dur said the seminar was regarded as the very effective step to seek a solution upon hot mudflow from the company’s leaking gas exploration well in the area since the last 28 May.
“I agree with Kwik and individuals’ idea to organize a seminar to seek a solution of what has happened in Porong Sidoarjo,” the leader of Ciganjur Islamic Boarding "Pesantren" School told reporters in PBNU Building, Jalan Kramat Raya 164 Jakarta.
The hot mudflow, according to Gus Dur, constituted a disaster caused by human acts. He said the owner of the company has ignored to analyze exploration impacts to environment before starting operations.
“This (hot mudflow) was caused by the reckless acts of the company (PT Lapindo Brantas Inc.), and the carelessness of officials handling the matter,” Gus Dur added. (dar)
