'NU and Red-and-White flags are insperable from each other'

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and the Republic of Indonesia are inseparable from from one another. The NU and Red-and-White flags will still fly and be raised forever. Insulting the country's largest Muslim organization is the same as insulting Indonesia and vice versa.<>
Chairman of the Brobogan's Branch Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU), Kiai Mat Said made the remarks at athe commemoration of the NU 88th anniversary in Purwodadi, Grobogan, Central Java, on Thursday (6/2).
"History has recognized the struggle of KH Hasyim Asy'ari in defense of the Homeland. We are not allowed to be opposed to the government, instead we have to support the government's programs having elements of welfare" he said.
He stated, in the face of the presidential election in 2014, NU could enter into any political party and fly the flag of any party, but NU must uphold the values of unity in protecting the Homeland.
On that occasion, H Icek Baskoro, Vice Regent of Grobogan was in line with the statement made by the PCNU chairman, saying that he was proud of Nahdliyin (NU followers) for always being committed to supporting the government performance.
He called on Nahdliyin not to invove in any dispute ahead of the 2014 presidential election.
"We expect NU to monitor the Grobogan government policies and support its all purposeful programs so that in the future it will be better region and bestowed by God" he concluded.
