The Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board (PCNU) of Jombang held Saturday (14/7) a Branch Conference. At the once-every-five year meeting, both village and subdistrict level board members could take part in determining chairman of lawmaking body (rois syuruyah) and chairman of executive body (tanfidziyah).<>

Organizing committee chief Nur Hamid Saidi said, in addition to being participated by subdistrict  boards, the meeting also involved the village ones.

"We still involve village NU boards in the selection process of chairmen of syuriyah and tanfidziyah, in addition to involving subdistrict NU boards," he said on the sidelines of a pre-event preparation, here on Friday, (13/7).

Nur Hamid added that the involvement of village NU boards in any branch conference was in line with the decision made by the East Java's NU Regional Board (PWNU) some time ago.

Their involvement was very important, because in addition to selecting chairmen of syuriyah and tanfidziyah, the branch conference would also determine the NU programs for the next five years, he said.

"The involvement of village boards will expectedly revive the spirit in managing both the (NU) organization and indicviduals."

Nur Hamid said there would be as many as 306 village boards and some 21 subdistrict boards having the right to vote to name chairmen of Syuriyah and Tanfidziah that will lead the Jombang NU for the next 5 years.

The Ph.D candidate in Islamic Economics said that the meeting would be opened by deputy chairman of lawmaking body of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH A. Mustofa Bisri well-known as Gus Mus.

"God willing it will be opened by Gus Mus because he now has come. And it will also be attended chairman of PWNU KH Mutawakkil Alallah," he said.

Meanwhile, to enliven the the once-every-five year event, NU Expo was also held for 4 days. Expo activities displayed a variety of products of SMEs owned by NU individuals and NU institutions and autonomous bodies.
