Ambon police investigating bomb explosion in Al Fatah Mosque

Ambon and Lease Islets Police are still investigating the bomb that exploded in the compound of the Al Fatah Mosque at 4.25 am on Wednesday.
"We are still investigating it to reveal the motives behind the bombing and the perpetrators that caused unrest among the people," Ambon Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Trilulus Rahardjo said.<>
He, however refused to give more details in the bombing saying that it was still being investigated and police were collecting information from witnesses.
He further admitted that the people’s resilience was good as they were not influenced much by the incident which did not cause any casualty.
The "Subuh" (morning) Prayer in the biggest mosque even run peacefully and smoothly, he added.
"This is the work of inhuman people aiming to provoke the people and to change the current conducive situation into chaos. But, apparently people did not react to it (as they expected). We will investigate it thoroughly," he added.
ANTARA observed that personnel of the anti-bomb squad of the Maluku Police are still investigating the site on Sultan Baabullah Street, mainly to find the bomb pieces.
The explosion left a hole with a 0.5 meter diameter in the mosque compound.
Some witnesses said who were generally street vendors said a motorcycle passed by the mosque before the bomb exploded. (ant/dar)
