The Nahdlatul Ulama Students Association (IPNU) should be able to stand in frontline in preserving the moderate teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (Aswaja) that have now been facing many heavy challenges.

Ex-chairman of IPNU Zainut Tauhid Saadi made the remarks on the sidelines of a declaration of the Tegal's IPNU alumni at the Kudus Hotel, Slawi, Central Java recently.<>

The member of the Commission VI of the House of Representatives said that the challenges could be in the form of various new religious teachings that should be anticipated because all the teachings would not always be in line with the nature of Muslims in Indonesia.

"The existence of the various and unclear Islamic teachings should be anticipated through the strengthening within IPNU body. IPNU must be ready to safeguard and take stand against the misleading and instant teachings," Zainut said.

In the meantime Zainut expected IPNU to be such comfortable place for Indonesian students. At this point, he hoped the organization to be capable of understanding the needs students in particular and teenagers in general. (was)
