COMMEMORATING NU 83rd ANNIVERSARY
Kedungpring's NU holds healthy walk

The chapter of NU (MWCNU) of Kedungpring, Lamongan, East Java, held Saturday (7/2) a healthy walk to commemorate the NU's 83rd anniversary.
Organizing committee chief Ihsan Affandi said that the sporting event was a series of activities conducted by the MWCNU in commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the Indonesia's biggest Muslim organization.<>
In his speech, Ihsan expressed his great appreciation to all parties taking part in the much-awaited event including legislative hopefuls from NU that would wrestle with each other in the 2009 legislative election.
At the same time, committee secretary Drs. Imam Sujono said the healthy walk was at least participated by seven million participants ranging from students of educational institutions affiliated with Ma'arif NU to people in general.
"In addition, the participants, among others, are from such NU autonomous bodies and institutions as Fatayat NU, Muslimat NU, Banser, IPNU (NU students association) and IPPNU (NU female students association)," he told NU Online here Saturday.
Meanwhile chairman of MWCNU Drs. Khamim Baidlowie MM called on participants over the importance of implementing the values as well as the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah having so far been evolved and preserved by NU.
"And another important thing is seeding the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah to NU young generations so that NU as a religious social organization will remain existing in society," Khamim who is also an educational practitioner said. (dar)
