Maintaining financial system stability by not saving dollars

The high exchange rate of the rupiah against the dollar in recent days presents its own challenges for the monetary system in Indonesia. Therefore, the role of Bank Indonesia is very necessary in maintaining monetary stability in Indonesia.

The statement was made by by a member of Commission XI DPR RI (The House of Representatives) of the PKB Faction H. Faisol Riza during the socialization of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) on the campus of Nurul Jadid University (Unuja) Paiton, Probolinggo, recently.

"It is time for us to take part in maintaining of the financial system stability, by not saving dollars," he said in front of the students, lecturers and ranks of the Unuja Paiton.

According to Faisol Riza, by not saving dollars, at least the students and lecturers and the entire family of Unuja Paiton could help the monetary system in Indonesia.

"It is time for students to always be diligent in saving. For example, athletes who won gold medals at the Asian Games 2018 on rock climbing sports are present at this activity. Let us together encourage families to save money," he concluded.

While the Head of Divisi Perhitungan dan Verifikasi Premi LPS (Calculation Division and LPS Premium Verification) Jakarta, Budi Joyo conveyed the importance of security for customers is a priority in the financial management system.

"Therefore, the role of the LPS is needed which serves as the deposits guarantor of depositors customers and maintenance for the banking system stability according to their authority," he said.

According to Budi Joyo, the history of LPS was due to the monetary crisis in 1998.

"The task of the LPS is to guarantee customer deposits and maintain the banking stability," he said.
