NU followers establish Islamic junior high school

Starting the academic year 2012/2013, education facilities owned by NU followers (Nahdliyin) in Banjarejo sub-district, Blora, Central Java will be built again. It was marked by the establishment of new Islamic junior high school (MTs), namely MTs An-Nur.<>

The educational institution initiated by KH Ali Muhdlor is located in Seren, Sendangwungu village and is one of six long-established Mts such as MTs Hasanuddin (Plosorejo), MTs Islamiyah (Gedongsari), MTs Himmatul Muallimin (Klopoduwur), MTs Miftahul Ilmiyah (Mojowetan) and MTs Pulo.

Vice principal of MTs An-Nur, Muhammad Nurokhuddin said that for the first year, MTs An-Nur would accept applications for some 54 new students in which the number of the students would be divided into two two classes study groups.

"Thank God, the public interest to gain knowledge in MTs An-Nur is pretty good," he told NU Online, adding that the MTs An Nur was in one location with the Vocational High School (SMK) An-Nur.

He said that the two educational institutions were under An-Nur Islamic boarding school (pesantren). Thus, most students studying at MTs An-Nur have also studied at the pesantren that is led by KH Ali Muhdlor.

In addition to the six MTs, in the Banjarejo subdistrict there are also six (state) Islamic elementary schools (MI/MIN), namely MIN Plosorejo, MI Himmatul Mualimin Klopoduwur, MI Wonosemi, MI Islamiyah Gedongsari, MI Mifathul Ilmiyah Mojowetan and MI Sendangwungu.

In Banjarejo, there are two vocational high schools and an Islamic senior high school, namely SMK An-Nur Seren, SMK Nusantara Pulo and MA Asy-Syakur.

The increasing educational facilities are expected to be able to help improve the quality of human resources in the area.
