NU mosque institution holds mosque management training

The Nahdlatul Ulama Institute for Mosque Management (LTMNU) of East Java held a Mosque Management Training and Mosque Certification Socialization at the STAIN Jember, Saturday (16/2).<>

The training was attended by 70 participants consisting of elements from the mosque officials and MWCNU from Jember, Banyuwangi, Lumajang, Bondowoso and Situbondo. A number of figures such as LTMNU Chief of East Java H Ali Masoud Kholqillah, Chairman of STAIN Prof Babun Suharto, Chairman of PCNU Jember, KH Abdullah Syamsul Arifin and KH Bawi Fatoni also seemed to fill seats in the front row.

In his speech, KH Abdullah Syamsul Arifin, popularly know as Gus Aab, emphasized the importance of the mosque as a place of worship as well as ideological fortress.

He said if once "a week in mosque a religious sermon on Sullam safinah is organized", there would be no any new different belief sistem or teachings disseminated in the regions.

According to Gus Aab the mosque should be functioned properly in addition to being a place of worship, the mosque is also the most appropriate and potential place for consolidation.

"So the mosque has a central function, essentially it is for the benefit of the people," he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of East Java NU , Masyhudi Muchtar emphasized the need of mosques to have clear and independent funding sources. Therefore, he proposed that every mosque has such a mosque owned enterprise(BUMM).

"The agency is working to raise funds to finance the activities of the mosque," he explained.

In addition, Masyhudi also called for the need of mosque to form the Social Development and Service Agency (BP2M).

"It's also important to serve the needs of the community, especially to serve the needs of those living around the mosque," he said.
