NU national meeting to take place in Jakarta

Organizing Committee chief of the National Ulema Meeting of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) H Arvin Hakim Toha said there would be three main agenda in the momentous event which will take place in the NU headquarters, Jln. Kramat Raya 164, Jakarta, on 1-2 November ahead.<>

According to Arvin who is also chairman of NU the much-awaited meeting will be divided into three commissions; the first is the  Organization Commission. It will discuss the Statute and Bylaws of NU.

The second is the Bahsul Matsail (Problems deliberation) Commission. It will discuss current crucial issues in Indonesia.

"The issues of khilafah (Islamic state) and the government will be discussed at the (bahtsul masail) commission," he said at a press conference at the NU's headquarters in Jakarta on Thursday (23/10).

The third is the Recommendation Commission. It is intended to address the issues that will be recommended to the government of Indonesia.

Arvin also said, the forum would discuss the NU congress next year. The participants, he said, would decide where the congress will take place. "Now there are some proposing it will be held in Surabaya, Medan and Banten," he said.

Present also at the press conference were the General Chairman of NU KH Said Aqil Siroj and the Treasurer of NU H Bina Suhendra.
