Gus Mus: The Piety between kiai and governor are different

Advisor of Nahdlatul Ulama KH Mustofa ‘Gus Mus’ Bisri explained about meaning of pious at Tumpengan Red and White which was carried out by the central Java government in Semarang on Sunday (9/30) night. According to him pious on Arabic language is saleh, come from shalaha word or sholuha that means of proper or worthy.

“Appropriateness for everyone is different. Don’t be judge that pious just for kiai or ulema. If pious is only for kiai, so how else profession? Police, employee, and other professions are not part of pious? He ask.

According to chief of Raudhatut Thalibin islamic boarding school, Leteh, Rembang, if a governor is too many wirid and i’tikaf, it was not good (not proper) because he or she was needed by the people and must ready to serve them. 

“Conversely, kiai is not good if he is often to visit governor office, is he want to follow tender? He explained with a joking tone.

Gus Mus finished his lecture by giving a gift formed a poetry entitled Solomon prophet smiling that containing expectation in order to top position people always love to lower position people. The poem especially aimed to central Java governor and deputy governor Ganjar Pranowo and Taj Yasim Maimoen who present at the moment. 

This event was enlivened with art and cultural performances such as traditional dances by students, national and cultural speeches, music, and reading of national poems performed by Sosiawan Leak. 

The activity that guided by Prie GS especially was dedicated to central Java people. The event is open for public. There were free snack (angkringan) and eating tumpeng together for audience who present. (Muhammad Khozin/Abdullah Alawi)
