KH Masyhuri Malik said that there were two important things that must be taken into account and implemented by NU today. First, improving the organization ranging from the central to the village level. Second, building microeconomics.<>

The man engaged in the process of cadre recruitment of the Indonesia's largest Muslim organization added, NU as an organization must protect consumable products, such as mineral water, soap and toothpaste. "So far, we have often drunk mineral water with well-known brands" produced by the capital owners.

"By purchasing their products, we are contributing more to the capital owners, instead of contributing to our fellow citizens," said KH Masyhuri Malik in a religious gathering at Pesantren ar-Robitha, Krapyak Lor, Sleman, on Thursday (11/6).

With a strong economy, NU will become a solid organization. NU will not easily be trapped into pragmatism. This economic movement could be started from small things, such as running a bottled mineral water business.

"Not only do the Nahdliyin (NU followers) become market players, but they should also become parties capable of producing staple products, such as mineral water and soap," the former chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Board of Bekasi said.

Another important thing that should to be taken into account by the Nahdliyin-based organization, he said, was  improving the organization.

In the meeting, he also expressed his readiness to be nominated as general chairman of NU in the a much-awaited congress that will be held in Jombang on 1 to 5 August ahead. (masdar)
